слагать с себя полномочия члена парламента [Chiltern Hundreds - чилтернские округа (в графствах Оксфордшир и Бакингемшир), где в XVIII в. было учреждено специальное управление (Stewardship of the Chiltern Hundreds) по борьбе с многочисленными разбойниками. По закону 1707 г. управляющий чилтернскими округами не мог быть членом парламента. В 1750 г. должность управляющего была упразднена, но до сих пор существует обычай, по которому член парламента, ничем не скомпрометировавший себя, может сложить полномочия только в том случае, если по личной просьбе он назначен на номинальную должность управляющего чилтернскими округами]
